Bea was my individual and group therapist for over 10 years, those years were filled with her tenderness, caring, insights, challenges and above all a sense of love. Bea was the " good Jewish" mom I yearned for and, she will forever be a part of my heart and memory . I will always treasure our times together. Rest well dear Bea. Marc

I first met Bea in the summer of
1970 at Smith College when I was a student in course on Group work which she was teaching. Since then she was and is a remarkable influence
on my personal and professional
Development. I am forever grateful.
Once we were talking about tennis and she shared that she and her husband played doubles. She went on to say that
One of his favorite exhortations
To her was RUN Bea RUN!!!
All I can say is that Bea was the
Most beautiful and elegant runner I have ever known.
My deepest sympathies to her

She was extraordinarily wise and had the gift of making you feel that she truly cared about you. I was so fortunate to have had her in my life and she lives on in me and many others who she taught to accept and love themselves.

Bea was magical, and ageless. We met decades ago when she counseled me (brilliantly) about various changes in my life. The conversation continued all these years and we last talked perhaps months ago. I introduced her to Bob Dickie who has been my lovely partner for a decade (Sidney Harman died in 2011) and he too fell under her spell. No one ever has provided better counsel and been a real cheerleader for my success. I can only imagine how many lives she's touched and how many will miss her as profoundly as I will. My heartfelt condolences to her family who were so lucky to have her for so long. Former Congresswoman Jane Harman

Bea was one of my dad's best friends. My father, Gerald Perman created many memories of times together when my daughter was a child, going to parks and restaurants and talking about life with Bea. I will always cherish her upbeat encouragement and remember her generous gifts and kind words. She will be to me a vision of someone I would want to be like. Nurturing and taught me how to create happy thoughts and to have self control. She was a therapist even when just hanging out with her you got substance!

Bea was such a beautiful person and friend to me and my daughter Damara Dayton. She was also one of my dad's best lifelong friends. I was so sad to lose her and not have her always there on the phone to talk about life with me and to cheer me!! She always had a compliment and built you up and advice on how to restore relationships and lift others up. I will miss her as will all of us that had friendship with this loving and wise soul. What a beautiful long life to celebrate and someone to strive to be similar to!

Bea was a very wonderful friend and mentor for many decades. She was always encouraging, kind, direct but with a light touch.

She shared many stories, wisdom about life, relationships, professional advancement, advice about children and grandchildren and prioritized social justice in words and actions. . Most of all she shared an adventurous spirit and sense of vitality that was infectious. She also enjoyed speaking Yiddish.

What an incredible person and what an incredible life.
I feel eternally grateful that I had the immense luck to be born and raised right across the street from this amazing person.
She was the most thoughtful, kind and empathetic person. There wasn't a holiday or milestone she missed and she somehow knew exactly when to check in on us and what words of encouragement or understanding we needed.
She made the world a better place everyday. May her memory be a blessing.

Such sad news. I grew up with the Liebenbergs living next door and always remember Mrs. Liebenberg with a smile. She was a very lovely person.

With her gentle demeanor, unwavering kindness, and exceptional talent, Bea was not only a remarkable teacher but also a cornerstone of the Washington School of Psychiatry. Her presence in both group and individual therapy settings was transformative-her finely tuned listening, sharp perceptivity, and delightful wit made her a guiding light for so many of us. When she spoke in conferences, either as the presenter or a member of the audience, I enjoyed how the conference would take a left turn as she brought more depth to the subject with her insight or irreverence.

She frequently encouraged me to write and was always so welcoming in her support. Above all, Bea was a wise and deeply nurturing mentor and friend whose unwavering encouragement and wisdom had a profound impact on my journey. I am forever grateful for the privilege of learning from her and my treasured friendship with her.

The last time I visited Bea was 1 year ago. She was very interested to hear that I was chairing an aging program at the WSP. I told her about our conferences and asked her what she thought our next conference topic should be. She said "loss" with her usual reflection. As I age, it's the silent moments of remembrance that I find the essence of what truly matters. Bea really mattered to me and I will miss her very much.
