Beverly McLaine Nickens (Age 77)  
Of Washington, DC, passed away November 8, 2021 at Manor Care Health Services in Chevy Chase, Maryland. Beverly was born and raised in Haverford, Pennsylvania. After graduating from Haverford High School she continued her education at Howard University for her undergraduate degree, and then Catholic University for her graduate degree. She resided in the Washington, DC area until the time of her passing. She was a loyal and longtime employee of AARP until her retirement. Beverly loved to travel and solving the New York Times crossword puzzles.Beverly is predeceased by her parents Smith and Margaret McLaine. She is survived by her brother, Steven McLaine; nephews, Steven Jr., and Brian McLaine; grand nephew, Dayquan and grand niece, Briana McLaine; and her circle of friends, Teri Barber, Gigi Bessicks Thelma Byrd, Patricia Clay, Elaine Gipson, Brenda Heggs, Gloria Johnson, Patricia Lowerie, Carol Paige and Linda Robertson.Services private. Arrangements and cremation by Pumphrey Funeral Home.

Decided to call Beverly and the phone was disconnected. I then started a search and found this after searching for a while. What a shock. We had promised to keep in touch and so sorry to find that she was gone.

Heartfelt condolences! "Nickens" as we called her at AARP was a stalwart friend and colleague...always available to lend a hand and give sage advice. A delightful cohort to laugh and joke with - and someone who will be missed. Courage!
