Bobbi (Barbara Helene) Blok, 71, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025. She was born on April 14, 1953 to the late Lorraine and Karl Blok. Bobbi's life will be remembered as one filled with love, passion and purpose. After graduating from American University, she spent decades advocating on behalf of children living in the District of Columbia through her work at WCDC (Washington Child Development Council). Later, upon moving to the mountains of West Virginia and concerned about harmful pollutants, Bobbi worked tirelessly for environmental justice for local school children. Bobbi's talents in theater and the arts were often interwoven with her quest for justice. Several of the plays she wrote and produced were performed for the benefit of local charities. Her recent book, "Soulful Courage" is a testament to her faith and approach to life. She is survived by her sister, Lisa Blok-Linson, brother-in-law Phillip Linson, cousin, Susan Stevens, special friends at her Quaker Meeting, and so many others whose lives she touched.

I just learned of Bobbi's passing. We lived on the same floor at 4000 Tunlaw. Bobbi was always so kind to my son as he grew up. I admired her activism in DC on behalf of children and intrigued by her interest in writing plays which I attended. After many years of absence from the building, Bobbi returned for a short stay last winter. I was delighted to visit with her and catch up but sad to see that she was suffering from illness. When I mentioned to my son that we had visited, he was so excited and asked,
"why didn't you call me so I could stop over to see her?"

I started the Daily International Meeting for Worship for Peace on Feb 24 2022, when russia invaded Ukraine. Bobbi began attending regularly shortly after it started. Her mantra, "Peace and Love" is remembered by the particpants; we heard it ring clear and sincere whenever she was present. I am grateful for the notes in the obituary, filling in details we did not know about her. What we knew for certain was her deep love of the children around her and her dedication to improving life for them. Bobbi, your battles have been fought nobly and courageously. Thank you for the light you brought to us and for your example of answering when you are called. Now, rest in peace.

I live in Bristol UK, and am a member of an international online Quaker meeting for worship for peace in Ukraine. I'm a regular attendee, as was Bobbi, and while the meetings are mostly silent we occasionally met up in a breakout group about climate change. Bobbi's contributions were always heartfelt and moving.

Bobbi was a great supporter of Quaker Peace Perspectives formed through the Ukranian Meeting hosted by Friends House Moscow.
She informed us of the many concerns she supported. Her life was a shining beacon for everything she stood for and I will greatly miss her as will so many.

She was a true person, struggling so hard to make the world a better place. She worshipped at Pendle Hill online every morning ending our farewells with "Peace and love all!"
