Burden Warren Obituary
Burden "Bonnie" Warren, beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on November 28, 2025. She was born to Ida and Curtis Jones on March 22, 1961 in Chicago, Illinois. Bonnie grew into a woman whose strength, compassion, and unwavering encouragement shaped everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Bonnie built a distinguished career. She obtained a B.S. in chemistry from Oakwood College and a master's degree in computer science from Alabama A & M University. She gave back by teaching computer science courses at Oakwood College, followed by developing manufacturing software at Intergraph. She had a career pivot and obtained her J.D. from Samford University. She became a patent attorney at McDermott Will & Emery, where she later became a partner at the law firm.
She was admired not only for her sharp mind and dedication, but also for her ability to inspire those around her. She had a remarkable gift for motivating others, reminding us that "anything worth doing will be hard work." A philosophy she lived by and generously shared.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Bonnie was guided by a deep love of God, literature, gardening, and her family. She found joy in the wit of Pride and Prejudice, the mystery of Sherlock Holmes, and the magic of Harry Potter. These books were her companions, her form of relaxation, and often, her way of connecting with the people she loved. She was an amazing cook as evidenced by decades of delectable holiday meals. She also created timeless memories through her skill of sewing. She made her own wedding dress, and dresses for significant events in her daughter's life.
Her greatest love was her family. Bonnie met the love of her life Adell Warren at the Oakwood College cafeteria—an ordinary moment that blossomed into a lifelong partnership. Together they built a home filled with warmth, infectious laughter, and unwavering support.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 41 years, Adell Warren; her daughter, Nichelle Warren, M.D. and granddaughter, Zara Dixon. Her memory lives on with her mother, Ida Jones, and siblings; Tracy Mansfield, Niecey Jones, John Jones, Sr., and Curtis Jones, Jr.
Bonnie will be remembered for her kindness, her quiet strength, and her ability to make others believe in themselves. She was well beloved, and her legacy lives on in the many hearts she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing she made the world braver, brighter, and better.
A memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Restoration Praise Center Church.
