Carmelo was a great person in my musical life. He helped me a great deal with accordion repairs. Whenever my accordion was being repaired he didn't hesitate to let me borrow his.
The accordion world has lost another legend.

Our deepest condolences on your loss. We have had a realtionship with Carmelo going back to junior high school, through high school, and into later life. He was always a modest gentleman who never let his accomplishments change him. He always found time to chat whether he was busy performing at an affair or meeting somewhere. He was held in high esteem by everyone who knew him.

Dr. Carmelo Pino was my close friend, my teacher and fellow member of the American Accordionists' Association's governing board. He remained a kind, thoughtful gentleman even as dementia took over his life. I always marveled at his amazing musicianship and enjoyed his wonderful sense of humor. My husband Dan and I send our deepest sympathy to his family.
