CLEMENT CAROL JANE CLEMENT October 30, 1943 ~ May 26, 2015 Carol Jane Clement, age 71, passed away peacefully at home in Rockville, MD on May 26, 2015 after a short illness, surrounded by her family and friends. Born on October 30, 1943 in Ambler, Pennsylvania, Carol was the daughter of the late George and Florence Kemmerer (née Layfield). She attended Wicomico High School and graduated from the Jefferson School of Nursing in 1964. On December 12, 1969, she married her beloved husband, Jim. Carol lived in the Washington, DC area for over 45 years, where she spent most of her career as a real estate agent, first with Snider Brothers, then Merrill Lynch, Prudential, and Long and Foster Realtors. Before that, she was an ICU nurse in Philadelphia, PA; Washington, DC; and at the US Army 2nd General Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. Raised as a Methodist, she lived a life dedicated to helping others, modest in nature with a spirit of boundless generosity. She is survived by her husband, James Francis Clement; her son, Matthew James Clement, daughter-in-law, Aude Clement and grandchildren, Juliette and Alexandre Clement of Ferrette, France; and Dasha Kosmynina, for whom she was guardian and is part of the family. She is also survived by her sisters, Joan Thomas of Florida and Ellen Warren of Tennessee; and her brothers, George Kemmerer of California and Jim Kemmerer of Arkansas. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Nancy Learey of Oakland, Maryland. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 3001 Wisconsin Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20016. Inurnment will take place later in a private ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to JSSA Hospice of Rockville, MD, who were an enormous support to Carol in her final days.

Dear Jim,
Carol and I never quite became close friends, something I will always regret. But I knew her as a very caring person, always ready to lend a helping hand.
