ROSE, CAROLYN L. ( Age 53)
Of Chevy Chase, MD at midnight on Thursday, August 29, 2002 at the Community Hospice of Washington, the Washington Home, after a brave and protracted battle with cancer. Family and friends were in attendance. Beloved wife of David von Endt;loving mother to Elizabeth Rose, and grandmother to Jasmine and Tyler; devoted daughter of Mrs. Ruth Rush. Also surviving are her beloved sisters, Elizabeth Terry and nephew, Catherine Rible and nephew and niece, and beloved brother, Paul Rusch. Carolyn was immediate past Chair of the Department of Anthropology, Smithsonian Institution, and Adjunct Professor at The George Washington University. In addition, Carolyn was instrumental in developing the fields of ethnographic and archeological conservation, and the preservation of natural history collections. She developed educational programs in museum preservation here and abroad, served on the boards of many national and international museum preservation organizations, was president of many national and international professional societies, and received numerous awards and honors. A memorial service will be held this Saturday, September 7, 2002 at 11 o'clock at the Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church, 1 Chevy Chase Circle, Washington, D.C. The family invites friends to attend if they wish. A small reception will follow.
