CHARLES BENTLEY Obituary
CHARLES SCOTT BENTLEY (Age 73) LtCol USMC (Ret.)
Of Bethany Beach, DE formerly of Burke, VA passed away surrounded by his loving family on Monday, September 2, 2013 at his home. Scott was born in Richmond, VA on February 8, 1940, son of the late Charles Emil and Ottowa Anne (Hundley) Bentley. He served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962-1984 completing three tours of duty during Vietnam. He was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in Bethany Beach, DE, a past member of the Potomac Valley Seniors Track Club in Burke, VA and had volunteered with the Visiting Angels. Scott will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Nancy (Johnson) Bentley; three children, Kelly Marie Bentley (Jay) Brunjes of Farmington, ME, Christopher Scott Bentley of Charlotte, NC and Catherine Bentley (William) Ramsey of Madison, MS; four grandchildren, Alyssa Bentley White, Kayla Bentley White, Liam Scott Ramsey and Ellen Linnea Ramsey. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at St. Ann's Catholic Church, Bethany Beach, DE 19930, where friends and family may call after 10 a.m. at the church. Interment with military honors will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions in Scott's name to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
