Charles King Obituary


CHARLES HENRY KING, JR.  
On Friday, October 15, 2010 Charles Henry King, Jr. Charles was born on January 31, 1920 to Charles and Louise (nee Richter) in New York. He was predeceased by his wife, Nancy (nee Arnold) King in 2008 and is his sister Eva. He is survived by his sister Louise, his sons Robert, Charles (Rick), Andrew and five grandchildren, Phoebe, Gavin, Asa, Ryan, and Dylan. Charles played an important role in advancing space exploration. He was an early proponent of using liquid hydrogen to power rocket motors and led teams designing the Pratt and Whitney RL10 engine which has powered manned space flights and missions and to seven planets. Charles held senior positions in the Apollo, Skylab and Apollo-Soyuz programs. Interment will be at Arlington Cemetery, November 22, 2010 at 9 a.m. Please meet at the Administration building no later than 8:30 a.m. Reception to follow at the home of Rick, all are invited. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Washington Home and Hospice.
