Charles Pease Obituary

Capt. Charles "Charlie" Pease, USN (Ret.) was born in Worchester, MA on September 5, 1936. The son of an Episcopalian minister, he spent most of his childhood in Fullerton, CA. He entered the Naval Academy In 1955 as a member of the class of '59. He met his wife Susan (Suzi) Ray of Orinda, CA in 1958 and they married in 1960.

Charlie's 26-year naval career began flying seaplanes in the Pacific. He earned a master's degree in operations research, served with Admiral Zumwalt at the Pentagon and on the USS Kitty Hawk as Assistant Navigator. He returned to the air as a P-3C Orion pilot tracking Soviet submarines.

Charlie finished his aviation career as Commanding Officer of VP-16 and then served under Admiral Turner, assigned to NATO's southern headquarters. He finished his naval career in the Office of Net Assessment (ONA) under Andrew Marshall.

After the Navy, Charlie worked for United Technologies and EG&G, then started his own consulting business.

Charlie and Suzi visited every continent except Antarctica during their 63 year marriage. He was also an avid tennis player. The couple ultimately moved to Falcons Landing in Potomac Falls, VA where he was an ambassador for the community.

Charlie passed peacefully on June 12, 2024, surrounded by his wife and children. He is survived by his wife, Suzi; his children Michael and Jennifer; their spouses Leslie and Scott; grandsons Nathan and Ben and sister Dorothy. A memorial service will be held at Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia on August 3 at 1 p.m. The family would like to honor his memory through donations to the Alzheimer's Association and Insight Memory Care in Fairfax, Virginia.

I´m just seeing this in 2025. Thinking o you and yours. 63 years of many adventures. Miss seeing you as I´m in San Diego, CA now.
