CHARLES WHEATLEY Obituary


CHARLES FELLOWS WHEATLEY, JR.  
Of Grasonville, MD passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at Whitewood Assisted Living Facility in Grasonville, MD. He was 90 years old. Born on December 13, 1927 in Washington, DC, the son of the late Charles Fellows Wheatley, Sr. and Marjorie Meeker Wheatley. Charlie graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Washington DC and received a degree from Princeton University in three years, Class of 1948. Charles continued his education at Harvard Law and graduated with a law degree, Class of 1951. After graduating he joined the Army and became a JAG officer until he was honorably discharged and began a career as a lawyer. He opened his firm in the Watergate Building in Washington DC, and later moved the firm to Annapolis MD. He specialized in Federal Energy and Antitrust Law, and covered many landmark cases in the US Supreme Court.On May 23, 1959, he married Elaine Johnson Wheatley and they made their home in Northern Virginia and Potomac Falls, MD, and in 1983 moved to Prospect Bay in Grasonville, MD. Charlie enjoyed boating, skiing, traveling, bird watching, cutting the grass on his tractor, and eating vanilla ice cream. Mr. Wheatley is survived by his children, Charles F. "Chip" Wheatley, III of Denver, CO and Mark J. Wheatley and his wife, Brenda of Grasonville, MD; grandson, Charles F. "CJ" Wheatley, IV; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a brother and two sisters. At Charles' request no service will be held.
