Silver Spring resident Chris Ortiz, 57, passed away on Monday, September 24th at Holy Cross Hospital from heart complications. Born in Queens, NY, Chris attended Seton Hall High School in Patchogue, NY and earned a full scholarship to St. John's University. Upon graduating from their school of medicine, Chris was invited to attend Johns Hopkins Medical School. Chris used his expertise to start a pharmaceutical company in Long Island, NY. After he sold the pharmaceutical company he relocated to the Washington DC area, worked for Whole Foods Market, and ultimately started his tax consulting business. He loved to play tennis and basketball, the NY Giants, movies, talking politics, and tremendously enjoyed the company of friends. Chris touched many people with his intellect, knowledge, humor and kindness, including a helping many immigrant families in the Maryland/DC area. He is survived by his beloved children, Jeremy and Michelle, daughter-in-law Keyla, and grandaughter Drea. Chris also has nine siblings, 29 nieces and nephews and a very large contingent of relatives and friends, too numerous to mention.
