CLAUDE DELFOSSE Obituary

CLAUDE DELFOSSE
Claude Delfosse, father, husband, brother, entrepreneur, died on July 11, 2013. Born in Paris in 1940, Claude was an adventurer in his early years, a vintner in his later years; always a risk-taker; a whiz at crossword puzzles; a man of few words who could nonetheless command the attention of a room. After graduating from the prestigious École Nationale Supérieure d'Arts et Métiers in Paris, he worked as an engineer in South Africa, travelled around the world, and came to America on a Fulbright Scholarship. He continued his education at California Institute of Technology and spent his career in the technology sector. Upon retirement, he fulfilled his dream of starting a winery-Delfosse Vineyards & Winery-in central Virginia. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Genevieve Delfosse; his three children, Laurent Delfosse, Olivier Delfosse, and Oriane Delfosse; and his six grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on September 14 from 4 to 6 p.m.at Delfosse Vineyards & Winery in Faber, VA.

I had the pleasure to represent DelFosse wines, for a too brief period. Working with Claude was always inspirational and mind broadening. He will be missed in many realms.

Mrs. Delfosse and family,

Mrs. Delfosse and family,
We are sorry for the passing of Claude. We got to know him from our visits to your vineyard and the wine festivals around the state of Virginia. Claude always had a twinkle in his eye, a ready smile, a more than quick wit, clever and thoughtful comments, and an ease and comfort about him. We always looked forward to seeing him, and he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Genevieve and family,

Mary and I are deeply sadden by news of your loss. We have delightful memories of Claude and are thankful that we had the opportunity to get to know him. Thank you again for the superb hospitality you and Claude provided us while I worked at the Software Productivity Consortium

Warmest regards,

Ken and Mary Nidiffer
