CONSTANCE WILDE Obituary


Constance Wilde "Connie"
passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2017 at John Randolph Medical Center from complications due to surgery. She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis D. and Florence E. Kirks. She is survived by her husband, Henry Arnold Wilde, Jr. "Hank" of almost 60 years. She is also survived by sons, Charles Arnold Wilde of Washington, DC, and James Louis Wilde (Erin) of Arlington, VA; daughter, Susan Wilde Kump of Hopewell, VA; granddaughter, Clara Gwendolyn Wilde of Arlington, VA; and grandson, Louis Jonathan Wilde of Arlington, VA. She also leaves her faithful friend, her dog "Brutus". Connie was born in Petersburg, Virginia and grew up in Hopewell and Richmond, VA; as well as Washington, DC where she met and married Hank Wilde. They traveled many places while he was in the military to include four years in France and four years in Korea where her youngest son was born. Connie worked for many offices in the City of Hopewell. She also volunteered for Meals on Wheels; Red Cross Disaster; and Book Buddies for Dupont Elementary School. Connie was an active Circle Chairman and Moderator for the Presbyterian Women at Hopewell First Presbyterian Church. She was a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs for over 25 years. She was a Charter Member of the Hopewell Federated Women's Club and served as its President for four terms. She served as secretary for both the Hopewell Women of the Moose and Alpha #1 Chapter of Eastern Star in Petersburg. She was also Chief of Ward 1 Voting Polls for several years. A funeral service as well as interment will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, in Arlington, Virginia at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hopewell Humane Society.
