Corwin V. Edwards

EDWARDS CORWIN VANE EDWARDS LTC, U.S. ARMY (Ret.) On July 19, 2009, at the age of 94, and a 47-year resident of Fairfax County, passed away at Mount Vernon Hospital in Alexandria, VA. He was retired after 27 years of service in the U.S. Army plus 17 years as a civilian attorney to the U.S. Government. Corwin was a Veteran of the North Africa and European Theaters in WWII where he received the Silver Star for Valor, and of the Korean Conflict. He is survived by his loving bride of 66 years, Virginia Lloyd; his sons, Corwin Jr. of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Allen L. of Lakeside, California, Carl M. of Arlington, Virginia and Robert C. of Alexandria, Virginia; by his daughter, Elizabeth V. Irion of Lancaster, Pennsylvania; and by his grandchildren, Kimberley, Jason, Bryan, Emma and Conor Edwards. His life, summed up in three words would have to be DUTY, HONOR, and FAMILY (in no particular order). An inurnment ceremony will be held at the Arlington National Cemetery on September 1 at 2 p.m., and a Memorial Reception will follow at 3 p.m. at The Fairfax, 9000 Belvoir Woods Parkway. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choosing.
