CRAIG BALLINGER Obituary
CRAIG ALLEN BALLINGER (Age 83)
On Monday morning September 26, 2016, in Fairfax, VA, loving husband of 53 years passed away. His wife, Sandra, two sons, Dean and Todd, daughter in-law Sonia, and granddaughter Kara were by his side. Craig was from Detroit, MI, and the son of Mona and Clyde Ballinger. He was blessed with eight grandchildren; Kara, Samantha, Andrew, Nicholas, Kathryn, Morgan, Ava and Craig, and two great grandchildren, Lilly and Eric Jr. Craig was an entrepreneur, a creative, and a life explorer with many passions. He struck a harmonious balance between family and work as a Civil Engineer. He was on the ski patrol for 40+ years, American Red Cross for 30+ years, and volunteered his free time as a Fire Fighter, Rescue Diver, and Boy Scout leader. Craig loved to spend his time helping others.A visitation will be held at Murphy's Funeral Home in Falls Church on Friday, October 7, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. The service and celebration of Craig's life will be held on Saturday, October 8 at 10 a.m. at the Falls Church Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Craig's name to the American Red Cross.

Craig was the epitome of a strong pioneer who enjoyed the forest and the trees. I learned so much from him both professionally and as a companion helping improve the lives of others. His legacy will live on in so many ways. I am a better person for knowing him.

I always had a blast with Craig and the family whenever they would come to visit. I really enjoyed the summer of 76 when I was able to share the entire summer with the family in Falls Church. Wonderful memories.

Grandpa I know you are on your boat fishing up in heaven. I will miss you I am so thankful that I could spend the last day watching football with you I will treasure that memory forever. Everytime the skins made a TD you would point and smile at me even though I am not a skins fan lol it was a good day for me. I love you Grandpa keep watching over us and we will take care of Grandma. Until we meet again Grandpa. Xoxo

Our deepest condolences to Craig's family. It has been an honor and pleasure living next door to him for the past 12 and a half years. He will be deeply missed by my husband and I.
