Daniel James Fehringer

Daniel J. Fehringer "Dan", age 75, passed away unexpectedly on May 17, 2025 due to an accident. He was born on October 11, 1949 to the late Jerry and Kay Fehringer in Sidney, NE and was raised in Chappell, NE.
Dan graduated from Chappell High School in 1967 and received his B.S. degree in Engineering Physics from Regis College in 1971 and his Master's degree in Health Physics in 1973 from Purdue University, then earning his PhD in 1975.
Dan retired from the Nuclear Waste Technical Review Board as a Senior Professional Staff member in 2008.
He found joy in gardening, walking the paths of Reston, time on the computer, exploring the digital world, reading extensively, and listening to podcasts that spanned a wide array of topics. Dan was extremely generous, intelligent and possessing a dry sense of humor but quiet. His thoughtful nature made him a respected figure in both his personal and professional circles.
In addition to his parents, Dan was preceded in death by his sister Anne Williams and his brother, Ed.
Dan is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; his son William (Becca); his precious infant grandson Noah; and his siblings—Dale (Patty), Ray (Deb), Ralph (Paula), John (Eva), and Joe (Susan)—as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Friday, June 6th from 10:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Mark's Catholic Church, 9970 Vale Rd., Vienna, VA, where a Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Inurnment will immediately follow at Fairfax Memorial Park, Fairfax, VA.
