Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and friend, David passed away peacefully at home in Falls Church, VA from cancer on August 4, 2014 with his family at his side. David was born on December 10, 1944 in San Antonio, TX. He earned a degree in Pharmacy from University of Texas at Austin. David joined the family business, Dismukes Pharmacy, in Austin where he served the community for nearly three decades, including years as a compounding pharmacist. In 2011, David moved to the Washington, D.C. area with his daughter Melissa Pore's family where he volunteered with the Boy Scouts and St. Thomas More Cathedral School on an educational satellite project supported by NASA. David was preceded in death by his wife, Judith Ellen Lucas Dismukes; parents, U.S. Army pilot David Payne (deceased in WWII) and Mildred England Dismukes; adoptive father, William Ira Dismukes; and brother-in-law, Juergen Kuschnik. He is survived by his daughters Melissa Pore and son-in-law Robert David of Falls Church, VA, Heather Hardeman and son-in-law Britt of Austin, TX, son David Christian of Austin, TX, granddaughter Courtney Ellen, grandsons William Ford, Travis David, and Waylon Cole, aunt Mary Martha Bou-Chebl, sisters-in-law Sherri Hartman and Gaye Lucas and a multitude of friends who loved him dearly. A memorial service will be held in Austin, Texas and a private burial will take place at a later date. The family appreciates all the love and support from our many friends. There were so many qualities we loved and admired about Dave, it is hard to know where to begin. He was kind and thoughtful, generous and loving, funny and clever,a devoted husband and father, and a true and loyal friend. He was one of the hardest workers we have ever known, but he never complained. We hope he found some peace and rest in his retirement. He deserved it.

Dave was one of the good guys in a white hat and we are so honored and blessed to have known him, Judy and all the children. We send his family love. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. We are so sorry for your loss.
