David Goldenberg Obituary

David Eliot Goldenberg died on Monday, August 26, 2024, of metastatic melanoma at the age of 80. He was born in Cambridge, MA, to William and Judith Goldenberg. He graduated with a degree in Geography from Boston University and went on to get a Master's degree from Penn State, and a PhD from the University of Maryland. After teaching at the university level, he worked as a consultant in health care issues in the private sector.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan Goldenberg; his son, Brian Goldenberg, his step-children, Abner Mintz and Shoshana Mostoller (Eric); his grandchildren (Noah, Nathan, and Ella); his sister Ruth Maibor; his nephew Scott Maibor, his niece Carolyn Maibor, one grand-nephew, and three grand-nieces. His marriage to the former Karen Liss ended in divorce.
Funeral services will be held at Mishkan Torah congregation in Greenbelt, MD, at noon on Thursday, August 29, to be followed by interment at Garden of Remembrance in Clarksburg, MD. Shiva will be held at the family home that evening from 7 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Goldenberg Scholarship Fund at the University of South Carolina, Office of Gift Receiving, 1600 Hampton Street, Suite 736, Columbia, SC 29208, or online at https://donate.sc.edu./ or to Laurel Cats, Box 57, Laurel, MD 20725.
