DAVID LUNTER Obituary
David Lee Lunter
David Lunter, 78, of Woodbridge VA, died May 21, 2021 of complications from Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma. Born in Summersville, WV and educated at Glenville State College and Marshall University, David brought his Mountineer determination to Fairfax County Public Schools in 1965, where he spent 32 years as a teacher, assistant principal and principal, influencing and inspiring staff, colleagues and the students in his care. His life was filled with friends, all welcomed to his home and festivities. He loved travel and adventure with his wife, Marcy Mager, cherished his children, Michael and Angela Lunter, Madeleine and Kevin Deliee and Morgan Mager and Eliza Ridgeway, and adored spoiling his grandchildren, Caraline, Zephyr, Truman, Ada and Mira. David found joy, shared fun and made everything he touched better. A party will be held to celebrate his life on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m. at The Ospreys at Belmont Bay, 401 Belmont Bay Dr. Woodbridge, VA 22191. Mr Lunter was my 6th grade teacher at Rose Hill Elementary School in Alexandria, VA, during the 1965-1966 school year. I think that was his first year being a teacher. I really liked him as my teacher and I always remembered him. I surprised him with a brief visit once while he was principal at Barden Elementary in 1997. May he Rest in Peace.

When I would visit my great friend, Mike, in high school, his dad, David Lunter, always welcomed me with a big smile and questions about my teenage life. Godspeed, Mr. Lunter.
