David Rowe Obituary

David Harris Rowe passed away peacefully on December 5, 2025 with his wife Brenda Rowe at his bedside and his son Scott Rowe close by.
David was born April 2, 1940 on the Harris Farm in Westminster, MD where he spent as much time as possible during his breaks from private school helping his grandparents and uncles work the farm. He learned a lot from working with his uncles and grandfather on the farm. He was also influenced greatly by his uncle Joseph Rowe, a private school teacher who encouraged him to further his education at private high schools where he obtained an outstanding education helping him earn a full scholarship to Johns Hopkins University. He graduated from Woodberry Forest High School, Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Georgia. After graduation from Johns Hopkins University, he accepted employment with the Boeing Company in Seattle, WA, where he worked on the forerunner of the space shuttle. Called to active duty as a US Army Intelligence Officer, he served in various locations around the world including Viet Nam, Germany (two tours), and Turkey as well as several locations in the Washington, DC area as well as the University of Georgia where he graduated with an MBA.
He retired from the US Army as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1984 and while on active duty he received several awards, in particular the Bronz Star, the Legion of Merit, and Meritorious Service Medal. His family had several military members starting with Brigadier General James McCubbin Lingan from the Revolutionary War, his father John served in the Pacific during WWIl and both of his uncles, Joseph and Philip Rowe, served in Germany during WWII. David was a member of The Society of the Cincinnati based on his relationship to BG Lingan. After retiring from the US Army, David worked for McDonnel Douglas (later became part of the Boeing Company) and retired from Boeing going full circle from his first job in Seattle, WA with Boeing after graduating from Johns Hopkins University. He was awarded the Manager's Award, the highest honor of the company's Engineering Services Division, The Boeing Company. After retiring from Boeing he worked well into his late seventies with several contractors in the DC Metro area as a computer security specialist. He also became a licensed real estate agent working primarily behind the scenes with his wife and her real estate activities as well as helping manage their rental properties.
He is survived by his wife Brenda Rowe, his son Scott Rowe and wife Shari Rowe, his granddaughter Chelsea Rowe, his great grandson, Layne Godwin, several nephews and niece, and cousin Martha Jessica Rowe.
He was predeceased by his sister, Brenda Rowe Edwards, his parents John and Jean Rowe, his uncles Joseph and Philip Rowe, and his grandson Jason David Rowe. Service private.
