Deborah Kramer Obituary

Debbie Kramer, 73, passed away on November 14, 2025, due to complications from cancer. Debbie was born to Cynthia and Justin Kramer in Elmira, NY. She earned a BA from Douglass College in NJ and her law degree from George Mason University.

Her law practice started with a patent and intellectual property law firm in Arlington, VA where she handled filings and research of patent and trademark applications. After passing the Pennsylvania and Virginia Bar Exams, Debbie opened a law office where she practiced immigration law, family and juvenile law, and criminal defense. She was in demand for her ability to converse with clients in both Spanish and English. She was a staunch defender of marginalized members of the community, and believed that everyone has a right to a defense.

Debbie was a lifelong hiker and served as president of the Center Hiking Club. She was known on the hiking club circuit as both a hike leader and scout for new hiking trails. She was also an avid square dancer and creator of homemade greeting cards. Her loving spirit -- with her warmth, sympathy, and encouragement – will always give us happiness. Survivors include her significant other John Mills, brother Jeffrey Kramer, and her niece Suzanne Kramer.

Debbie was laid to rest at the Historic Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC, on December 3, 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Capital Area Food Bank or the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Debbie was always such an enthusiastic and friendly square dancer with us here in the DC Metro area. Even right up until the end she was dancing and having fun with all of us. We will surely miss her out there on our dance floors.
