You always said that from the day I was born I knew you were my daddy. You said you looked through the window and I smiled right at you. From that moment on I was a daddy's girl. You taught me everything I needed to know about life. You were kind, giving, loving, and wise. Your memory will be eternal because there is no way that we can forget you. In every step I take and every word I speak, I will think of you. All my love, always. Your daughter Aspasia, your Aspaso!

My dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and good friend. You travelled a long and very interesting path in life and enjoyed so many adventures from your home in Gythion to your new Country in the USA. God gave you a loving family and many many relatives and friends that shared with you every moment up to your end. Happy sailing my good friend, spouse, father, grandfather....May your memory be eternal and one day we will meet again in the Gates of Heaven.

They say that God has a way of sending you someone very special in your life. In June of 1971 in Silver Spring, Maryland I met one of the most unique, handsome, strong and caring people I had ever dreamed of meeting. This person, Demetrios G. Kalapothakos became my friend, my lawfully wedded husband, father of my beautiful daughters and grandfather of our very cherished granddaughter, Alexandra. He was a strong man, supportive in every way, a man with goals and lots of great dreams. He loved his family and all his friends and reached out to them and in turn his family and friends always returned his reach with love and lots of care. He was funloving and enjoyed the happy times especially experiences travelling on the high seas as a merchant marine and visiting Greece, his loved Mother Country. He loved his Greek Orthodox Church, his Countries; both Greece and America. He grew to respect and love his second Country America. I learned from Demetrios; Mr. DK as his work colleagues in the painting industry called him a lot about life, joy, love, devotion, and care. He had a special way of sharing these; unconditional, Maniatiko, and very very sincere. We made so many many dreams for ourselves and our daughters, Georgia, Aspasia and Effie and little Alex and many of them we were able to fulfill. Now, my longtime friend, soulmate, spouse you leave me with a lot of life's lessons and the knowledge that you loved me dearly and enjoyed every moment up to the end. You gave me love, a love of fun, lots of great friends surrounding us and a gift I'll never forget. Even during your illness you fought....Have a great trip, sail on my dear husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. your memory will never be forgotten by any lives that you touched. Your unique smile, love of life and will to live will give us the strength to carry on. We love you. We will never forget you and we know that God will give you the peace, rest and solstice. ?????a s?? ? ???µ? a???µa????ste....?e? se ?e??? p?t?.

A Great Man:
Yesterday the skies cried, thunder and lightning filled the horizon. They say when a good soul is lost, the skies cry in the form of rain but when you lose a great soul, the sky is overwhelmed by thunder of pain. I not only lost my Uncle, my Mother's brother, I lost my mentor. Theo, our adventures together will live in my memories forever. I dedicate this last song to you. O Memetis.

I met Jimmy for the first time just a few
years ago at the Greek table at Wheaton Plaza. He immediately made an impression on me as an honest, kind, intelligent, straightforward, humorous, cheerful, bright and sincere !!
I enjoyed immensely becoming his friend and listening to accounts of his storied life. Jimmy was a good man, a family man and a man I am proud to say that is the best Greece has to offer.
I will miss him greatly. My condolences to his family. Aionia i Mnimi tou ....

I cannot express how much you mean to me. I am very grateful to have had the honor to meet you and be accepted as part of your family. I will always remember the times and memories we shared. I look at the ships plaque you brought me from your trip to Florida and it always reminds me of those first talks about the Military. I am proud to be your son-in-law.
