DENISE MARIE McDOWELL (Age 58)
Of Lanham, MD, formerly of Sterling, VA. Departed this life on Saturday, July 28, 2018 at George Washington University Hospital, Washington, DC. Loving wife of Paul Edward McDowell; beloved mother of Wilson L. Byrd, III, Chris, Charis, Nathan and Chara McDowell of Lanham, MD,; devoted grandmother of Xiomara, Isaiah, and Teva Byrd. She is also survived by her siblings, Wayne Fairfax of Ashburn, VA, Duke Jackson, III of Myrtle Beach, SC, Margaret Seaboy (Tarras) of Sterling, VA, Sonnie Jackson of Sterling, VA; stepmother, Anna Fairfax of Sterling, VA; mother-in-law, Arlita McDowell of Southeast Washington, DC and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing will be held, at 10 a.m., till time of homegoing service 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 22800 Dominion Lane, Sterling, VA, the Rev. Gregory L. Spurlock, Pastor. Interment will be held, Quantico National Cemetery, at Triangle, VA, immediately following the service. Arrangements by Lyles Funeral Services. Serving Northern Virginia, Eric S. Lyles. Licensed VA, DC, MD.

Sending heartfelt condolences at the transition of beautiful, beautiful Denise. I remember her so clearly -- her beautiful spirit, her lovely singing, her grace and kindness. Praying the comfort and peace of the Holy Spirit be with her husband and family. Oh, but what a glorious place she is now in the presence of our Father, whom she praised and loved. To the family of Pastor Denise....know that you are in our prayers at this time. Pastor Denise was an absolutely beautiful spiritual person. She was articulate, intelligent, and a total inspiration to us all. I got my first Vitamin Sprays from her years ago, and she was ALWAYS willing to help me and answer my questions. Take care family and know that you were blessed to love such an angel like her all these years.
