It was a great experience for me and my Art students to collaborate with Don and his students on the the hall mural project at RHS. He was such a good mentor to me and I have always been grateful.

Was just going through and scanning some of my drawings from back in the late 70's early 80's when I was taking several drafting classes that Don had been Teaching at Rockville High School and it got me thinking about Don and how great of a Teacher/Person He was. I often went back to the school to visit with Him and talked with Him several times on the phone in the years following graduation. I got into the drafting industry as a Civil Engineering Draftsman due to the pleasure and instruction that I got when in High School, Don passed on so much knowledge and made Drafting into something that had His Students thinking and tapping into our minds to express our creativity. Beyond the instruction and Teaching of drafting the main thing that Don did with His Students is that He treated us like People not just Kids that were in His class. Don took an interest in the things we were doing outside of school and was someone that we all knew we could talk to about anything going on in our lives, I took His classes for all 4 years that I was in High School and I can't even count the number of times He helped me through some things I was dealing with. To all that are related to and knew Don my sympathies go out to each of You. Here I am 40+ years later and my fondest High School memories took place in Dons Classes, so happy that I kept those drawings I did back then, i can remember the advice and help that was given to me leading me to draw things in a certain way. Here's to MR K who helped so many of us both in School and in Life, I Pray that You're now at Peace with the Lord and savior Jesus Christ and that We'll meet again in eternity.

Dear Mary and family, It is so hard to think it has been 8 years since Don entered into Heaven to be with his Lord. His memory will live on through his family. We feel so privileged to have known Don. Sometimes in this life we are blessed to meet someone who has an impact on us and Don was this man. So gentle, kind and loving to his family. He is still greatly missed by all who knew him. The thought of spending eternity with our loved ones is the hope we have in this life. I want to thank you Mary and your beloved husband Don for loving our son. May God continue to be with you and may He always keep you in His loving arms. Gary and Rebecca Poe
