I'm a little late in seeing the notice of Judge Kent's death so the family may never see my note but since I don't have an address for them I will write here. I was a young attorney who practiced before Judge Kent in the mid 1980s in alexandria. I was and am thankful that he followed scripture to "do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with His God". What a wonderful legacy his family has of one who served the people while still maintaining a godly witness.

I am so saddened by the loss of Don. It has been a privilege working with him on the Benevolence Committee. As we considered real human needs and provided support to many friends and strangers, his heart and compassion always guided us in our decisions. Linda and Family, Please know Don has left a mark on all our lives that will long be remembered. I know his legacy is a cherished treasure for you and the family. I offer my support in any way in the days ahead Brenda Robinson

Having the perspective of practicing for 45 years, Judge Kent has stood out amongst his peers as an eminent jurist, empathetic person , and a role model for civility and wisdom. He was an astute advocate for his causes, but always with extraordinary professionalism, and a thoughtful and patient Judge who was admired by all. While losing his mentorship is sad, his legacy will live on for all of us to emulate. The only shame is that we most likely never let him know how impressive he was to his peers and colleagues during his lifetime.

I will miss his wise counsel and advice. His life, as I knew it, was one of compassion and good judgment. His demeanor, whether on the Bench,on the golf course, or in company of others was always the same. We have benefitted from his sage advice, his calming presence, and his ability to fairly deal with those who came before him for justice.
May he rest in peace.

As a member of the legal profession, I am quite saddened by Judge Kent's passing and by the loss of those like him who set examples of professionalism and character for those who come after as ideals for younger professionals to aspire to attain. It would not be possible to list all the ways Judge Kent has served individuals and his communities. May he rest in peace.

With sincere condolences to his family,

Jeanne Franklin
