Donald R. McComb
Donald R. McComb passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023 in Laytonsville, MD. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Mary Jeannette McComb, brothers James and John, and sister Dorothy. He is survived by wife Marcia (Achilles), children Sarah (Divyang Shukla) and Doug (Chris) and grandchildren Madeleine, Gus, Malika and Jai, plus extended family.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts, he served in the U.S. Army before starting his teaching career in Chelmsford, MA while earning his masters degree. He relocated to MD when he worked for the National Education Association. Don then returned to teaching at Gaithersburg High School and Montgomery College.
A lifelong learner and educator, he was a strong supporter of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, or the Laytonsville Volunteer Fire Department.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at 11 a.m. at the Roy W. Barber Funeral Home, 21525 Laytonsville Road, Laytonsville, MD.

I was just thinking about Herr McComb and found this sad notice. He was my biology teacher in Chelmsford and formed the German Chorus, in which I sang and accompanied on the piano for rehearsals. I didn´t know any German and he taught us all the words phonetically. Some years ago he tracked down the members and sent us CDs of us singing. He was a wonderful and dedicated man.
