I am very sorry to learn that my friend Doris has passed. I began our friendship in 1976 when we worked together at the Marine Board at the NAS. She was always so kind and helpful and generous with her knowledge of how things worked at the Academy. Her sense of humor was wonderful and I really loved her. She will always be remembered. To John, Sister Mildred Williams and the Family of Sister Holmes,
I was sadden to hear of the passing of one of my favorite church members. Your mother, sister, grandmother was a present figure up on the hill at Gethsemane United Methodist Church for many years. So pleasant and cheerful. Willing to lend a helping hand when/wherever needed. Nothing but kind encouraging words ALWAYS to whoever she came in contact with. She would assist me with PRISM when she could. She would share with the church what was on her mind that she felt was a concern to the community as well as the church. Even when her health begin to fail her, she would still come on top of the hill to worship and praise the Lord God with all her heart, soul, strength and voice for the things He has done for her and her loving family. She is going to be missed. Anything you need of the Hancock family just ask. We will do our best to help you. May God rest her soul in His kingdom. I can hear her now as she would stand and lead us in our church affirmation she had for us. Then close it with her favorite saying..."When do we praise God? When we feel like it! And when we don't feel like it!!!"

John and Family,
Our deepest condolences to you,
and the family for the loss of your dear mom and loved one. Doris was a wonderful, kind and caring person. I had the pleasure of knowing and working with her at the National Academies of Science. She was a great mentor and always took care to listen to you when you felt you needed to be heard. She was good with numbers too! She won the office baby lottery when my daughter Renee was born. She called it even when I didn’t think I was ready to deliver and she was right about that call. Her calm and steady way of approaching every situation was something I always treasured and admired about Doris. We will be missing her for sure!
I know a lot of hearts are feeling hollow with her passing and so is ours, but I trust her spirit will forever be in the midst.
Love
Gloria, Rob and family
