I grew up going to the Outdoor Lab in the early 90s, including several summer camps. Mr. Hunsucker was an amazing man. Decades later, I still think of him frequently.

To the family of Doug Hunsucker,
I knew Doug from going to the Outdoor Lab each year from Long Branch, Abingdon, and Oarkridge Elementary as an Arlington teacher. Doug was a valuable asset to me and all of my students. His passing is a loss to all who knew him.

Lillie,
I learned only yesterday of Doug's death while attending the annual ladies retreat at Columbia lodge. Much love to you and all your family in this time of sorrow.

Lil was really shocked to hear about Doug. His loss was like losing a brother. Only wish we lived closer so I could've enjoyed him more.

Anyone who has anything to do with the Outdoor Lab knows how important Doug was to its development. Over the years, he has been a consistent supporter and even today, we have the Doug Hunsucker Spring where the salamanders emerge each year.
Doug was always so well-liked by his colleagues and students alike. His enthusiasm, positive and pleasant demeanor, and love of kids and nature will live long in our memories.

Doug was a true professional. I will always remember how he helped me when I became a science teacher at Kenmore in the middle of year. It was my pleasure to work with him again a few years later. I always felt he was one of the finest people I had met.
