To The Love of My Life

It has been a long hard year without you. I miss your smile, your hearty laugh, your touch, your kiss, your kindness, our Bible Study Saturdays, and Church service Sundays and everything that you are to me. I will never stop loving you. I thank God for the time He allowed us to be together again. You will always be in my heart. Although our time together was way too short, you managed to leave me with such wonderful memories, and for that I thank God and you.

Hi Connie,

I wanted to drop in today to say hello and to share in your pain. This is a very sad time of the year when our memories go wild and out of control. Prayer and God's help will get us through. I know Eddie and Danny are watching over us and wishing us well. I'm sure they had a great time on Eddie's arrival last year. I thank you for visiting Danny's book and the beautiful words you wrote. You and your family are in my prayers and please keep us in your prayers. Take care. Love, Bernadette

Big Bro, I miss you tremendously and count it all joy that we shared so many memories down through the years growing up in DC. I know that you are with the Lord now and He loves you so much more than I could ever imagine. Being human, I would have loved for you to stay here with us but He loved you so much that He spared you further suffering because He knows your heart and He knows how much you value your ability to live life to its fullest. I am so proud to be called your brother and to know that one day I will walk the streets of Heaven with you and the rest of the family. Until that day, I Love You and cherish the strength and courage you passed on to me down through the years. You showed me so much love and I give you much respect and honor for the things you taught me that kept me on the right path. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Connie:

Though I did not get to be with you, you have not been far from my thoughts. I continue to pray for your heeling. You got to share some more good times with your beloved and that was good. Remember that most of all. You and Ed got a chance to have what some many never have. Rejoice in those memories. You are going to be alright in a while.

I never had the opportunity to meet with you during your lifetime, but I was fortunate enough to have worked with the woman who loved you so dearly and the love, light and warmth you gave to your family and the people around you radiated through her that I feel like I certainly have met you.

Rest assured, wherever you are with the Lord, that you are greatly missed and that Connie will no doubt continue the good work of caring that everyone so lovingly remember you for.

May your soul rest in perfect peace.

To "Ma Connie":

I just wanted to extend my deepest sympathy to you and your family in the passing of your husband. Take comfort in knowing that though he's not with you physically, he is in the very presence of God. I love you and I pray that God will continue to keep you and your family in His care.

Dear Uncle Eddie:

Hey BIG brother! Your little brother misses you. I was a new member of the family and you made me feel really comfortable. From day one you were welcoming and sincere. I always appreciated that.

You are a man that naturally radiates love and respect and gets it back ten times in return. All of our conversations are always so rich. It’s obvious that you have been schooling people for a long, long time. From the sound of your voice, to your smooth style, to your sincere daps and hugs, your presence is prosperous and always adds so much to any room or gathering that you are a part of…. you make us all wealthy, by just being there.

I really miss you, Toni and I think about you all the time and pass smiles between us about something you did or said, the fly suits you would wear, how you would just glide into a room and change the whole atmosphere, (if you were not around… it was always very obvious) and of course….. your award winning potato salad. I love you Uncle Eddie, I love you Aunt Connie.

Your nephew,

Antionette Butcher

August 30, 2005

Uncle Eddie, I still have not come to grasp that you are gone. You will forever remain in our hearts and we will love and remember you forever. Semaj and I talk about you all the time. We talk about things ranging from your potatoe salad, your smooth style, your deep voice baby, and the way that you inspire all that cross your path. I remember when I was going through a particular situation in my life, you told me to stay strong and that God was going to work out things. You also told me that you were glad that I didn't crumble like some folks do. Those words encouraged me and I love you for that. Oh, and Uncle Eddie you were right he most certainly worked everything out.

Aunt Connie,

Through this time of stress you count yourself as blessed. You had a good God fearing man who didn't put up with no mess. He took care of his family and made his stand as a man. And eventhough you may not see him he will forever hold your hand.

Much Love to all,

Cousin Boogie (TONI)

My Dad,

A man of character and style. It's no wonder he touched so many people's lives, both in his family and in his community. I wonder if it was his baritone voice, the smile on his face, or the big warm giving heart he had. In any case that's what makes me proud to know I was a part of him, his blood line flowing through me like a fresh stream of water. When God called him home he took his hand and said O'kay. He left a beautiful wife, nine loving children, five terrific grandchildren, one darling little great grandson, a wonderful Pastor and church family, lots of loving relatives and good friends. Well all of this is to say I'm blessed to be part of this huge entourage. His death is not for us to mourn, but to rejoice that he is with God now and the difference he made in so many people's lives when he was here.

August 25, 2005

It's so many things I wanted to say that day. Like how we started bonding. How I'm going to miss talking to him while the ladies are in bible study. He still has a strong vision in my mind. Every time I put on a leisure suit, I will think about "BIG E", and how he said in his voice, "Court they keep you cool when it's hot!" I remember thanking him for taking time out of his day to meet and take me to the store, and him saying, "That's what church brothers do!"

God Bless Connie Bragg, his/her family, and everyone who has been touched by "Big E". He will be truely missed. He touched alot of people hearts.

Chris Smith

August 25, 2005

What can I say? I only knew him for a couple of years, but somehow I felt as if I'd known him longer. He touched my life in that short time span. I liked to refer to him as "Big E". He was always ready to greet me with a hug, a big Hello and an even bigger smile. Eddie, you will truly be missed. I know you are in a better place. God was ready for you to come home to him. To the family, take pride in the fact that you know Eddie is with God. Love, Chris.

Connie and Family

It's amazing how God chooses certain people to have 'larger than life personas' and cousin Eddie was one of those people. He looks so much like my dad, Uncle Reddick, and had some of the same qualities too. I was so impressed the last time I saw and spoke to Eddie, he seemed so unchanged by life and his spirit was awesome. I can sense why you loved him so. May God continue to bless you and your family as you travel through life. Eddie will be forever remembered.

Aunt Connie and Cousins,

One of my fondest memories with Uncle Ed is on 15t Street, S.E. when Unc had the Ice Cream Truck. He gave me my first job, just sitting on the truck in front of the house selling ice cream. Unc I will always hear you say "Hey Boo come here Boo". Much love forever, your Boo.

Uncle Eddie I did not remember you when I was young, as I got older I only heard stories about you. Those are the conversations and times that I will miss.

Uncle Ed and Aunt Connie

I am so grateful that you chose me to preside over your wedding. Through your example, I see that love bears all things, hopes all things, believes all things and that ultimately love never fails. Remember that many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it...and that the love that you two shared is eternal.

I love you both always.

To Connie Marie;

It is never easy to say good-bye to a loved one, but our hearts are made lighter by the fact that we know Eddie is resting in the arms of Jesus. Jesus promised to send us a comforter, and that He would be with us always. Rest in the fact that you are not alone, not only is Jesus with you, but he has given you precious family and frends to sustain. I love you.
