May I offer my condolences and prayers to the family. I delivered mail to Mr. Cilinski in the first year of my 30 years at Washington Gas. It was an honor and delight to know him! My father, Jerry Bowman, now passed, worked 30-plus years for the gas company and knew and loved "Pete" as well, having also grown up and played sports in an around the D.C. area.

Our sincere condolences for your loss. Pete was one of a kind...always had a smile and made you smile too. It was my pleasure to have known him all those years at Washington Gas.

Pete was already an icon when I arrived at Washington Gas in 1961. He was the jolliest, happiest man one could ever hope to know. Through the years my interactions with Pete were many and he never failed to make me feel better with his hearty laugh. I know his family will miss him, but the family that is waiting for him in heaven will be so happy to have him back. He was a righteous man who loved the Lord, his family, his work and his play (especially his card games at lunch). He toiled long hours at two jobs to keep things going. What a remarkable man.

May God bless all of you and fill your hearts with joy when you remember what a joyous man he was.

To Cathy, Joe, Fr. Bob, & ALL of the Cilinski Family:

I am so sorry for the loss of such a Wonderfully Loving Man! Pete was a great person to be around. My memories of him at "Mother Gas" are heartwarming and entertaining. He was one of "the Greats", and I owe him a lot for his support and advice. He was so proud of all his children, and happy that Joe worked with us at WGL.

I enjoyed spending time with him & Cathy at their home, with Ray Hollidge, "Fitz", Harry Hancock & their wives; and will never forget the "Store" in the basement and the dented, unlabeled cans!!

Pete always had some great story to tell of his early years, his Family, who he was so devoted to, and anyone who needed a little help! (My Dad knew him "in the day", talked about his boxing triumphs, and also dated his sister Mary, before my Mom.)

May your memories sustain you and bring you all Peace in the days ahead!
May God hold him in the palm of His hand ~ until we meet again!

My name is Kevin Powers..My mother is Rosemary ( Davis ) Powers. All of my mother's brothers were friends of Pete's...John Davis,Steven ( Steebo ) Davis,Mike, and Neal.
The memories I have of Pete are so many, and all so wonderful..Pete singing songs to all of us kids when we were young. The boat races at the Old Dominion Boat Club, where, of course, Pete wore his famous red long john's ( with the flap in the back ) And all the years I got to visit with him at the Safeway in Hollin Hall. He was always ready with a smile and a story, and he always asked about my family. He will be missed by my entire family. May God bless his.
