EDWARD DOLAN Obituary

EDWARD C. DOLAN
Edward Charles Dolan, of Darnestown, Maryland, died unexpectedly on January 12, 2022 at the age of 68. He was born in New York City on September 25, 1953, attending Chaminade High School and Columbia University. Ed spent the majority of his professional career at Hogan Lovells (formerly Hogan & Hartson) advocating for his clients in Bankruptcy and Restructuring matters, ultimately retiring as a Partner in 2019.Ed had a deep, abiding love for his family, a strong faith, and fascination with aviation. Ed married the love of his life, Margaret "Pat" Vaughan in 1980. They made a home for their family in Silver Spring, Maryland and later in Darnestown. True to their vows, they have been constant support for one another, and their forty-one year love story is one of patience, love and generosity. Devoted Catholics, Ed and Pat were faithful parishioners of St. Jane deChantal Church in Bethesda, and later Our Lady of the Visitation Parish in Darnestown. Ed was a licensed private pilot and loved to share his passion for airplanes with his grandchildren.Anyone who knew Ed, knew he lived for his family. Ed is survived by his beloved wife, Pat; daughter Caroline Buddensick and son-in-law Thomas; son William and daughter-in-law Stephanie; and grandchildren Avery and Charles Buddensick and Jack, Eleanor and Charlotte Dolan. I first met Ed when he represented me when i was with the First American Bank of Va 1981. No matter what the question Ed was willing to listen and gave strong solid legal perspective. A great friend and a fabulous lawyer. I am so sorry that Our Lord called you to rest. God Bless your family. Pete

My deepest sympathy to Ed's family. I knew him well for several decades as we were bankruptcy lawyers together. He was a wonderful person and I will miss him.

I was saddened to learn of Ed's passing earlier today. Ed was a colleague from our years practicing bankruptcy law in the D.C. area. We worked on several large matters together and maintained a friendship through our membership in the Chandler Inn of Court. Ed was among the best bankruptcy lawyers in the country and brought to every case his superior intellect and practical judgment. Even when adverse to Ed, it was a pleasure to work with him to try to reach a good outcome for our clients, if possible. I will miss Ed's easy sense of humor and hearing his stories about his family, of whom he was very proud. Rest in peace, Ed.

I am so sorry to learn of Ed´s passing. Ed was a great colleague at HoganLovells. He always responded to my requests for assistance for nonprofit clients, often under very short deadlines. Clients sang his praises for the attention, skill, and practical advice he gave. I never ran into Ed at the firm that we didn´t have a conversation about the firm or family. His dry wit gave me many smiles. Condolences to his beloved family.
