Edward Gilbert Obituary

Edward Charles Gilbert M.D. passed away peacefully at his Palm Beach Gardens home on October 26, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New York, he was a Cume Laude graduate of Amherst College and Yale Medical School. He was a skilled urologist for many years and was a pioneer in the male infertility field. He lived most of his life in Potomac Maryland.
He proudly served in the Navy working on the Pensacola Naval Base during the Vietnam war and achieving the rank of Captain while working at Bethesda Naval Hospital (now Walter Reed).
He was a member of Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, where he was fondly known as "Steady Eddie," and was also a member of BallenIsles Country Club in Palm Beach Gardens.
Ed was happily married to his wife GaleLee for close to 66 years. He is survived by GaleLee, their three children, Kathryn, James and John and their spouses, five grandchildren, Parker, Kate, MaryClaire, Carter and Ryan, his older brother Paul and his longtime caregiver Alba, all of whom adored him.
Ed was a voracious reader, avid golfer and a great story and joke teller. Ed captivated a room with his personality and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
No services are planned. In lieu of flowers, please consider giving to:

I am disheartened by this news. Dr. Gilbert virtually saved my life with kidney reconstructive surgery in 1975. We have been dear friends ever since and I will miss him terribly. What a card he was. My love to Gail, the kids and grands. I will keep Ed in the light.
