ELEANOR COLTON Obituary
Eleanor Ricks Colton
Eleanor Ricks Colton, 90, a long time resident of Bethesda Maryland died on September 19, 2021, due to causes related to Alzheimer's Disease and age. Born in Hibbard, Idaho on August 21, 1931 to Thomas Emerson Ricks and Annie Hutchings. A 1953 graduate from the University of Utah, she married Sterling Don Colton in 1954. She moved to Maryland in 1966 and was active in both local and regional assignments in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was active in her neighborhood and community. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Colton of Bethesda Maryland; her three sons and their wives, Sterling David and Julie Haycock Colton of Orem, Utah; Bradley Hugh and Melanie Farrell Colton of Midway Utah; and Steven Ricks and Jeri Cash Colton of Johns Creek Georgia. She has 17 grandchildren and 46 great-grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021, 12:30 p.m. in Orem, Utah. Greg and I were very sad to learn of Ellie´s passing. Greg was a counsellor to Sterling Colton when he served as the Mission President of the Vancouver Canada Mission. We continued to keep in touch with the Colton´s after their assignment was completed in Canada.
We travelled to Washington DC a number of times and were hosted by the Colton´s on one of those trips. It was delightful as they were very gracious hosts.
The last time we saw them was in Vancouver when the Vancouver Temple was dedicated. It was a wonderful reunion with many of us happy to see and visit with the Colton´s.
We were able to meet two of their lovely children, David and Carolyn. We send our condolences to all of you . We have retired to Qualicum Beach as of 2012 on Vancouver Island. We would be very happy to receive any of the Colton´s family in Qualicum Beach.
