Elizabeth Eirich Obituary

Elizabeth Eirich, known as Beth or Beth Ann, died July 10, 2024, in Moraga, California, from complications after a fall.
Beth was born in Washington, DC, August 19, 1942. She went to Nativity Grade School, The Academy of the Holy Cross, Georgetown Visitation Junior College, and graduated from Dumbarton College in 1964. After college, she moved to Kansas to teach in the Jesuit Volunteer Corp.
Upon her return she became a grade-school teacher, first at St. Bartholomew's, then Mater Dei, and finally St. Elizabeth's.
In 1968 she married Donald G. Eirich (USMC), and for many years they lived in California, at various military bases. Upon returning to the Washington, DC, area, Beth became a buyer and manager at several boutique clothing shops, but found her dream job when she became the Special Events Coordinator at Tiffany & Co., Tysons's Corner, VA, and Chevy Chase, MD. One of her colleagues, when notified of her death, said,"Our lives have all been a bit sweeter knowing Beth."
Beth was predeceased by her husband of 43 years. She leaves her three children: Ann Eirich Didden (Damian), Scarborough, NY; Dr. Christian Eirich (Dr. Rebecca Parish), Moraga, CA; and Matthew Eirich (Meghan), Chicago, IL. She adored her five grandchildren: Clare and Caroline Didden and Charlotte, Thomas, and Mary-Kate Eirich. She is also survived by her three sisters: Mary Catherine Beyda, Washington DC; Patricia Bowman (Thomas), Vienna, VA; and Eileen Mann (Richard), Bethesda, MD, and two sisters-in-law: Joanne McGarraghy and Audrey Taylor. Her three brothers predeceased her: Alfred, John, and William, as did her parents, Catherine and Alfred McGarraghy.
Beth had many nieces and nephews, who will miss her very much.
A memorial mass will take place Monday, July 29, 11 a.m., at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament, Western Avenue at Quesada Street NW, Washington, DC.
She will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, next to her beloved husband, at a date to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to SOME (So Others Might Eat), 71 0 Street NW, Washington, DC 20001, and please be kind to one another.
