"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7
Emily Elizabeth Weeks, beloved friend and piano teacher, entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on September 15, 2025.
Emily was born an only child to Charles and Ruby Weeks on September 5, 1948. She grew up in a secure home filled with the love and guidance of her parents, attending church faithfully. In her early teen years, Emily took part in a retreat at First Baptist Church of Alexandria and came to know Christ as her personal Savior and followed Him the rest of her life. Emily attended elementary and secondary public schools in the Fort Hunt area and friends recall how disciplined and organized she was with her studies and piano practice. Drama class was one place that Emily and her friends could relax and have fun!
Upon finishing her undergraduate degree at Queen's College in Charlotte, NC, Emily went on to complete a master's degree in Piano Pedagogy at Catholic University. She opened her own piano studio in her parents' home, where her creativity and love for music enriched her teaching. Emily established her own teaching method which incorporated puppets and games into the lessons for her youngest students. She challenged her older students with advanced piano pieces and had regular recitals for all of her students at the Lyceum in Alexandria.
The hand of God was on Emily's life and talents. Sensing a call to France as a missionary, Emily was sent out under the blessing of her parish, Church of the Apostles in Fairfax. She developed a mastery of the French language and a lifelong love for France and its people. From clowning in the Red District of Paris to leading worship for women's meetings and at church, Emily served the people of France wholeheartedly for nine years. She returned to the States after the sudden passing of her mother and took on a new ministry in caring for her father until the time of his passing. Emily then resumed teaching piano, mastered the harp, and offered French culture and language summer camps on occasion.
A lifelong resident of Alexandria, VA, Emily loved sharing her home and her gift of hospitality, decorating (especially at Christmas), visiting quaint towns, and spending time with treasured friends. If whimsy were a person, that would probably be Emily, as evidenced by her beautiful decor and wardrobe. Entering her home, one was enveloped in colorful cottage style and all things Parisian, which she loved. Emily also cherished her kitties, constant companions TeddieBeau and TwinkleBelle. In the piano studio, Emily and her students could often hear the antics of the cats above their heads as they ran and played together. Twink even graced the studio once in awhile to visit the children and listen to the music!
Emily will best be remembered for her steadfast faith, knowledge of God's Word, and gift of intercession. She was a prayer warrior! In the final season of her earthly life, Emily stayed full of faith and courage, believing in God's faithfulness. She knew that nothing could separate her from His presence, and that no matter what, all was well. And she is well now, healthy and whole in the presence of her Lord!
Preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ruby Weeks, Emily is survived by her beloved cousins Kimberly and Eric Haskins, as well as many endeared friends, piano students and parents. All to whom she would express her deepest desire for each to experience God's love and salvation.
A graveside service will be held at Ivy Hill Cemetery, Alexandria, VA, Thursday, October 2, 2025 at 12 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life service at Jubilee Christian Center, Fairfax, VA, Saturday, November 1, 2025 at 12 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to Jubilee Christian Center in memory of Emily.
