Semper Fidelis, cousin... I remember arriving at the funeral home only to see dozens of Patriot Guard Riders standing by to escort you to your final resting place. It's because of you, Henry, that I now ride with that same group of bikers...and I know in my heart you'd be proud that I'm carrying on the tradition of bringing home our lost Marines, Airmen, Soldiers, and Sailors. We miss you, love you, and thank you every single day for your sacrifices. Rest easy, Marine.

I went to see you on July 27 and took flowers and candles. I miss you so much! I saw the lovely heart shaped sunset you sent for us there. Love you so very much! It has been 5 years too long!

Another year gone, but not forgotten. We miss you, cuz!

The NC Run for the Fallen will honor fallen troops from North Carolina at a Memorial Run on Saturday, May 29th, 8:30am, Ayden Grifton High School track, Hwy 11 S. Ayden NC. My Dear Henry on the 3rd year anniversay of your being gone, I once again went to the sight where you lay to rest. I got a wonderful surprise there. A visit with your sweet grandma. I had a feeling she would be there. We shared some memories and some tears. Can't help but "miss you" my sweet "hero." Love you always and you will always have that special place in my heart. David misses you also.

Henry, I still miss you. I really think of you when I see a "butterfly" and know that out there somewhere you are adding love and peace to each life your memory touches. I always "THANK" every military man I see just for serving so I can live on free land in our great "AMERICA." David misses you, too.

It's been two very long years and I miss you more and more every day! When you were very small (who am I kidding? i did this right up until the end..), I would come in at night and hold your hands to count your little fingers and then your toes. Loved to hear you breathe so peacefully. You always had such an expressive face, even while sleeping. This never will feel right and I want to give you butterfly kisses just once more...
You were my savior from day one and I'll never be complete without you...
I know you are having many fine adventures (of the good variety) now and although I miss Sampson, I know that you and Tim will make him feel young all over again!

Henry is my Hero. I don't know much about him because we never got to know eachother after we grew up. But I do know one thing and that is he was doing what he loved and fighting for what he believed in when he passed. He will always be on my mind and in my heart.

All i can say now is I hope when my Son who I am naming Henry gets here he is as strong and brave as Henry!

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

I remember all the stories Christie told me about Henry-then on day I finally met him. He was the coolest young guy I had ever met-very respectful-thanks to Mom and Grandma. Eventhough we grew into young adults on separate sides of the U.S., I grew fond of Henry as a close friend. I would always ask Christie how he was doing and she always said fine just doing his own thing and still focused on his set goals. I'm glad to have crossed paths with Henry and will always miss his genuine mellow demeanor. Henry-thank you for believing what you believed in and giving up your life to give us better ones. We appreciate it. I love you guys.

I'm sitting at the same desk that I sat at almost a year ago when I received your call Christie. Then I was in disbelief, but today the sadness comes too easily at the thought of Henry's death.

As I've read the other letters here it strikes me, that for me, Henry wasn’t a Marine first. I guess because I've known you for so long that I also thought of him as the young boy that you shared stories about as I shared stories about Andre. I have so many of your stories in my head, (have you thought about writing your stories of Henry?).

Henry was an admirable young man who respected women, respected people and had the determination to set, and achieve for himself high academic and physical goals but mostly high standards of human decency. I guess that's why he joined the Marines.

Henry may just have been too good for this world. Maybe that is why God took him at his point in his life? When I think of him with God I hope that his face is one of the first I see should I be graced to reach heaven and I look forward to one of his big Henry smiles and one of his big Henry hugs.

Henry is a hero; but Henry also raised the standard of decency in this world and I hope we all live with more decency and more honorably for having him in our lives.

Military Parents,

I am a North Carolina Blue Star Mother of a Son serving in the US Army, Baghdad Iraq who is mourning with you, and your familiy the loss of your brave soldier Pfc Enrique Sanchez. Words of Thanks for his service, do not express my deepest sympathy for the loss of his life.

This precious life God so freely gives to us to love, and raise we are never prepared to give back to God, but we have to believe that God will help us deal with it if and when the time comes, if we have to give up our child in death. Remember that God loves Enrique more than we as parents or family could ever love him, and he is with the father. I thank God for his life, as he chose to serve his country in giving the ultimate sacrifice.

My daily prayer will be for God to give your family strength, and comfort.

My name is Cameron Skidgel I would like to say that I am sorry for your family's loss. I did not know Enrique personaly. I have learned of him through his cousin Kelly. I am proud of Enrique as a man and a defender of my and all other American's freedom's.

I feel so much sorrow in writing this to you. No words can ease your pain. Henry was one of my son's best friends. Andy. Andy talked about Henry very often. He was very proud to have his friend be so brave and to serve his country. He always looked forward to his home coming. He called me the night of the tragedy at 4 am. His words tore at my heart and still do. So much loss. Such a beautiful young man inside and out. I am so sorry. I remember Henry, James, Chris, and Andy at the house. Henry always wore the nicest clothes. The others wore their jeans and t-shirts, but I remember Henry in slacks, a nice dress shirt and nice dress shoes. So handsome. From the times that I met Henry, my impression was one of an honorable, clean cut, intelligent, brave young man. I actually asked him not to join the Marines. I was worried for him. But he did what he had always wanted and I am thankful for that and for all heroes like him. Please know you are in my prayers and thoughts. Henry - thank you for your ultimate sacrifice. To Henry's family I send my deepest sympathies. I lift you up in prayer, asking that you may feel God's strength and mighty power and rest assured that He will use this tragedy for goodness. I did not know Henry but I understand from my sister (whose son, Andy, was a good friend) that Henry was one of the most special young men she'd ever met. I am in tears looking at your young man's photo and so very, very saddened that one more child is gone because of war. I am heartened somewhat to learn that he was doing what he wanted. What a very brave young man. My heart goes out to you. Those sweet and precious memories you have will always keep him with you. May God bless you and fill you with his unconditional love and His promise that you and Henry will be reunited, in His time and in His glorious place.

To the family of PFC Enrique Sanchez, My heartfelt sympathy goes out to you all. It is always harder for us who are left behind, but know that in my heart I truly believe The Lord has a very special place in heaven for Enrique and my son Chase who was KIA April 6, 2006. He was also 3/8 weapons, and from what I understand Enrique and Chase were originally part of a five man humvee team. If I can ever be of any help please do not hesitate to contact me. I am a proud gold star mom now, but I will always be a very proud Marine mom.

My heart breaks again as I sign yet another guest book of another courgeous young soldier who gave their life so selflessly. I wish I never found myself in a position to have to sign another guestbook for the rest of my life. We lost a son 12/1/05 and it seems like yesterday.

I know first hand there are no words right now that will bring you the comfort and peace you need. Just know that you are not alone. My heart, thoughts, and prayers are with you all as you mourn this loss. We don't know each other, will probably never meet, but will forever be united in the loss of our Heroes. We have, unfortunately joined a group none of us wanted to join, an ever-growing group of families in this situation. May God grant you peace and strength to get through this and be able once again to smile at a memory rather than have only the tears that flow so easily now. To be so proud of your loved one and so saddened at the same time is a mix of emotions very difficult to deal with. I am sorry that I never knew your soldier personally, but none of these courageous men and women will be forgotten. They will never be able to be replaced, but sometime, someday your loving memories will help to sustain you. This courageous soldier will forever now be your Angel watching over you all for the rest of your lives. It's what brings me some measure of peace and comfort and I hope it will you as well. To his family and friends in pain, I offer this comfort: When you find yourself in that dark sorrowful place, think not only of how you will miss him, but instead recall the years, days, hours and minutes gifted to you by his presence. The one thing that cannot be taken from you is those wonderful memories that now will mean more than ever. May God be with you all on this difficult journey ahead. My brother, HN Robert S. "Jack" Williams served with your brave soldier and we want to extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to you all.

Another name, another loss. The feelings that come over current Gold star parents when we sign this book offering our condolences to new Gold star families is so hard. We didn't want to lose ours but we don't want to add more. The pain is great, but the knowledge that our loved ones gave the ultimate sacrifice for us and our country, helps some.
