EUGENE KUBASIK "Gene" 1927 - January 23, 2024
Eugene Leonard Kubasik, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in Viera Florida. He was 96 years old. Eugene was born October 8, 1927 in Hollsopple, PA and was the beloved son of the late John and Lena Kubasik. We find comfort knowing Eugene was welcomed into heaven by his parents and eight siblings, including Marie, John, Dolores, Lucille, Gloria, Florence, Kenneth, and Roselyn. Eugene is survived by his sister Juliane. He was the beloved father of Steven, Christopher, and Gregory, the grandfather of Kevin, Matthew, Lindsay, Brian, Nicole, Sarah, Timothy, Christian, Ashton and the great-grandfather of Carter, Arabella, and Connor.

Eugene grew up in the small coal mining town of Jerome, PA. After high school graduation, he was drafted into the Army Air Corps. After six years of service, Gene attended Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania where he studied political science. Shortly after graduation, Eugene moved to Washington, DC to work as an analysis for the NSA, where he met his future wife Antonia Datto. In 1964, Gene was assigned to Japan where they continued raising their three boys. Gene had a second assignment to the Philippines where he was the NSA Station Chief at Clark Airforce Base during the Vietnam War. The entire family returned to the U.S. on a 20-day ocean cruise and a 30-day cross country trek ending at their new home in Crofton, MD. While stateside, Eugene helped coach little league, youth basketball and baseball, and was a leader for the Boy Scouts of America. After retiring from the NSA, he enjoyed playing golf with his close friend Frank Street and traveling up and down the east coast with Antonia. Eugene's retirement hobbies included stamp and coin collecting and calligraphy. Eugene spent his last seven months living in Florida near family. Funeral arrangements are private and will be scheduled for a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the Kevin Kubasik Charitable Trust.
