EUGENE SESKIN Obituary

EUGENE SESKIN (Age 67)
Of Washington DC and Naples FL died peacefully on December 17, 2015 with his wife Gail Iannotti and sister Lori Shin at his side. Other survivors include his stepdaughter Elizabeth Buchbinder and her husband Guido and children Luca and Nico, his stepson David Iannotti and his wife Kim and children Oliver, Mateo, and Elijah, his brother Elliott Seskin, and many close friends. Eugene is well known for his seminal work in environmental economics, especially Air Pollution and Human Health, jointly with Lester Lave at Carnegie Mellon University and then at Resources for the Future. At the Commerce Department, where he worked for over three decades, he was responsible for preparing regular publications about U.S. economic activity as measured by the Gross Domestic Product. He will be remembered for his passion to see the world. And his family and friends will greatly miss his sense of humor, his excellent taste in food, wine, and decorating, and - most of all - that he was always ready and willing to share his expertise and to help others in any way he could. A celebration of his life will be held in Washington, DC in the spring. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Children''s Inn at NIH.

Gene was from Miami and I met him when starting Carnegie Mellon University in 1966. We became friends when he was a classmate at Carnegie while getting my BS and my MBA in 1971. Just ran across his obituary on 2/24/25.
