Evan Christopher Francis Motta

Evan Christopher Francis Motta, 25, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2025. Though his time with us was too short, the joy he brought his parents Christopher and Dawn Motta and his beloved little sister Grace will never be forgotten. Those who knew Evan recognized his caring nature, easy laughter, and quiet strength of character. He was the ultimate giver, always saving the last bite of his meal to share or bringing gifts back from his constant adventures.

From a young age, Evan loved action and adventure. His first jump off the diving board was a complete flip. He spent his childhood building forts in the Shenandoah Valley, improvising skateboard jumps in the cul-de-sac, mastering snowboard terrain parks, cliff jumping with his cousins in Texas and water skiing at Camp Wachusett.

Evan was a gifted, natural athlete. He started Little League Baseball and Donaldson Run swim team at age 5, then transitioned to Arlington Football and Babe Ruth baseball before finding his home in lacrosse. He played Varsity lacrosse for four years at Bishop O'Connell High School where he was a Team Captain. Evan played college lacrosse at Sacred Heart Univ. and Marymount University, proudly serving as a two-time Team Captain. Upon graduation, his love for the sport guided him to coach at Bishop Ireton.

Evan loved fishing and spotting eagles on the Potomac. He was a talented chess player, fantastic cook, and devoted dog dad. His attention to detail and pursuit of excellence helped him excel in his professional life as a DoD Account Manager at Carahsoft. He had grand plans, including a move to St. Petersburg, Florida with his Golden Retriever, Willow, and travelling to Thailand with Grace.

Evan's family will be holding a mass in Boston, Massachusetts. A celebration of his life will be held 4 to 7 p.m. on December 7 at the Mount Vernon Inn. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you spend an afternoon in the woods, on the river, or enjoying time with your family, with fond memories of Evan in your hearts. Donations to the Shenandoah National Parks (snptrust.org) would be another way to honor Evan.
