My deepest sympathies to your family for your loss. While I didn't have the opportunity to work with your father, Denis, I know he was a special man based on your stories and the comments in this guest book.

So sorry to hear the news. Doc was a great mentor and a terrific friend. I haven't seen him for years now but will never forget all I learned from him nor his great sense of humor.

Doc was always one of my mentors, since I met him as a student engineer, and was fortunate to be able to connect with him until retirement. Calling him one of my heroes would not be too far off. He was not just a brilliant physicist, but also an open and inquisitive one. He could listen, and he could advise without dictating. My eternal gratitude to him, and my condolences to his family.

Started working for Dr.Bedard in 1972 at Ft.Meade and continued all the way thru 2006. Many years for sure , and would repeat again as he was a great Supervisor, scientist and wonderful coworker. It was certainly my good fortune to be a part of his Research Organization . Will always remember him with admiration and respect ( although I might add with fondness he could never get me to ref to him as DOC ) Prayers for Dr. Bedard and the family , From Bruce Van Newkirk , Catonsville , Md .

Doc Bedard will forever be missed for his passion for physics and scientific dedication to the U.S. and multiple generations of scientists. His authentic smiles and witty remarks were always cheerful.
Dearest the Bedard siblings, my thoughts are with you during this difficult time of loss.

Doc was among the finest men I've ever known, let alone worked with. I am so very proud to have called him friend and colleague. We traveled together and dined together many times over far too few years. While I hadn't seen him in over a decade, my memories of our time together are fresh and long lasting. I will never forget him and our cherished activities together.

"Doc" was a great man and a true patriot. I considered him to be a mentor and we worked together formally and informally for many years. His contributions to our nation's security will probably never be known in full, but we should all be thankful to God for sending us 'Doc', and I thank Him for that. My condolences go to his family.

Very sorry to hear this. Doc gave me and others valuable advice when we were starting a new program. He was extremely helpful in technical matters and in dealing with money and bureaucracy. Despite occasionally unpleasant situations, he was always cheerful and humorous. I'll always remember his greeting: "Seat thyself."

Dr. Bedard brought together a group of young scientists to form the Laboratory for Physical Science (LPS) and through his own research taught us all how to turn our equations into devices and processes that would help power the Agency.
We benefited from his leadership and mentorship and will now sorely miss his warm friendship.

Psalm 90:10 says that the days of our years are 70 years, And if because of special mightiness they are 80 years. May the memories of the wonderful times you shared together bring a smile and joy in your heart.
