Dear Mrs. Barrett and Family,
Please accept my most sincere condolences. My family has such fond memories of the time we all shared together in Turkey. While I mostly saw Kathy, Gale and Fred daily at school, I was a secret fan of Col. Barrett the racketball player. I loved playing the game and spent many hours watching his singles and doubles matches at the Balgat court. I marveled at his "lower center of gravity" and his ability to consistently deliver a squatting kill shot from the back of the court. Apparently he was competitive well into retirement. His obituary reminds me that we sorely need men of his calibre, particularly in todays world. Dad wasn't too happy when BOTH of his sons went into the Army with Ray serving in both Afghanistan and Iraq before successfully retiring as a Colonel. Your husband/father was part of the inspiration for our service. My prayers are with your family on Saturday and in the months to come.
