Gail Boyar Obituary

Gail Tucker Boyar, beloved widow of Jay H. Boyar, mother of Seth Boyar, mother-in-law of Edie Boyar, grandmother of Miles and Grant Boyar, passed away on Wednesday October 22, 2025. Gail was born and raised in Cleveland Heights, OH and graduated from Smith College in Massachusetts before receiving a Masters degree from Yale University in Connecticut. She then embarked on a 30+ year teaching career.
Gail was a history teacher with a passion for art history in particular, who started her career in New Jersey, then took her talents to Maryland serving the Prince George's County Public School system at Northwestern High School and Eleanor Roosevelt High School before finishing her career at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, MD. During her life, Gail had the opportunity to travel the world and see magnificent pieces of art, sculpture, and architecture that would be the basis for her passion for teaching and sharing her love of history with her colleagues and students through the years. Her devotion to women's rights movements and outspoken political voice will never be forgotten.
A graveside funeral will be held on Sunday, October 26, at 10 a.m. at George Washington/Mt Lebanon Cemetery in Adelphi, MD. Donations may be made to Temple Isaiah in Fulton, MD.
