Gary Varano Obituary

KENSINGTON-Gary R Varano, 84, passed away peacefully at home, on September 16, 2025. He was born August 17, 1941, in Philadelphia County, PA. The son of Frank and Jeanette (Wesley) Varano. Gary graduated from High School and continued working with his father at their family owned business, Ken Wheaton Music Center teaching guitar lessons. He married Ruth Ann (Loyd) and they settled in Kensington, MD.
Garys first "gigs" were with the Frank Varano Trio and the Prophets, continuing with Hill Herwood Music and Production Co. He additionally worked at several local car dealerships. Gary was a loyal member of two local senior centers and joined a weekly billiards team in Rockville. Gary's love of music continued when he joined the Hollywood Ballroom Dance Center, becoming a beloved ballroom dancer and DJ for nearly 20 years.
in addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Ruth and siblings James (Skip) Varano and Jean Varano. Gary is survived by: daughter, Tracy Clary and her husband, Charles of Lewes DE; son, Richard Varano and his wife, Angela of Kensington, MD; two grandchildren, Samantha Clary and Andrew Varano and Karen Garcia and son, Michael Garcia
A service will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 14 at Holy Redeemer Church, 501 Summit Ave, Kensington, MD. Reception at 12 p.m. at Hollywood Ballroom, 2126 Industrial Pkwy, Silver Spring, MD
Those who wish to remember Gary in a special way may give gifts, in his memory, to Music Will, musicwill.org. Condolences may be sent to the family via Hollywood Ballroom.
