GEORGE COOPER Obituary



 
Dr. GEORGE E. COOPER, Ph.D.  
Executive Director of   The White House Initiative  on Historically Black Colleges  and Universities (HBCUs)  Departed this life on July 18, 2015. Beloved husband of 47 years to his devoted wife, Diane Shaw Cooper; loving father of Nikki Angela Cooper of Bowie, MD and Carey Allison Cooper of Casselberry, FL. He is also survived by two brothers, Cornelius (Pamela) Cooper of Orange, TX and Bertram G. (Mary) Cooper of Lone Oak, TX; stepbrother, Frank Williams, Jr. of Pompano Beach, FL; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, other family, colleagues and friends. A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Monday, July 27 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m., at the People's Community Baptist Church, 31 Norwood Rd., Silver Spring, MD 20905. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Spring, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a living memorial: Dr. George E. Cooper HBCU Scholarship, the People's Community Church at the above address.
