Georgia Lindroth Obituary
Georgia Christine Lindroth passed away on October 24, 2024, in Arlington, Virginia, surrounded by beloved family and close friends.
Georgia was born on March 11, 1939, in Cheyenne, Wyoming, to Christos Romios and Joan Economy and grew up along with her younger brother, Don, in Denver, Colorado. An active member of the Greek Orthodox community, she graduated from East High in 1957 and Denver University in 1961, where she received a degree in education.
On July 2, 1961, she married George Lindroth, and in 1965, they welcomed their only child, Kristine. As an Army officer's wife, Georgia traveled the world, living in Australia, Taiwan, Washington, California, Kansas, and Arizona, though she never forgot her Denver roots and returned often to visit friends and family. In 1978, Georgia and her family moved and settled in Arlington, Virginia, with George's retirement from the military. There, she established a successful career, working as a project leader in information systems for COMSAT, Digital and Defense Information Systems Agency. She was also an officer for the Project Management Institute.
In 2006, Georgia retired but was busier than ever, enjoying time with family and friends, traveling the world—including trips to Greece, the Caribbean, as well as Russia and Finland on a White Night's Cruise with Women in the Arts—attending the Shakespeare Theater, learning to sail, and, as a woman of deep faith, keeping active in both the Saint Katherine and the Saints Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Churches.
Georgia was able to merge her dedicated service to her community with her love for the arts by volunteering as a tour guide at the Kennedy Center, helping with costumes at Washington Ballet, and serving as an Arlington Lady at Arlington National Cemetery—a select group of women who attend every funeral there to ensure that no soldier is buried alone.
Devoted to her family and friends, Georgia is survived by her daughter, Kristine Lindroth (Arthur Hildebrand), grandson Jacob, and sister-in-law Peggy Romios.
