Gerald Ellsbury Obituary

ELLSBURY GERALD BURTON ELLSBURY, SR. Devoted husband of the late Pat Ellsbury; father of many lucky children and grandfather to many more beloved grandchildren, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Jerry was a stunningly independent man with a warm sense of humor. His concept of right and wrong was rock solid and provided a wonderful foundation for his children and grandchildren to build on. Not being a religious man, Dad preferred to be in the woods, taking comfort in nature's wonders. For those who knew Dad, rather than praying for him, consider taking a walk in the woods in his honor and thinking of him as you experience the natural harmony that he so cherished. He'll be glad he got you out of the house. Jerry is survived by sisters, Norma and Virginia; brother, Roger and children, Jay, Susan, Rick, Charles, Barbara, Kathleen, Joe and Ann Marie. The children's families including the late brother David's wife, Bonnie and children, as well as the late brother Bill's dear Susie and son, Greg also survive him. Dad heroicly measured up to hardships and responsibilities. We greatly appreciate his love and example. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the following to support the great hospice service that treated our Dad and Mom so well, JSSA Hospice, 6123 Montrose Rd., Rockville, MD 20852.
