GRACE GORLITZ Obituary
Grace Gorlitz
Died in her Bethesda home on May 2, 2020 following a brief illness. She was a few weeks shy of her 101st birthday. Throughout her life, Grace created the most extraordinary art with acrylics, oils, prints, sculpture, and various other media. Her art was, at moments, serious and profound, but also was marked by Grace's observant and delicious humor. It was always colorful, much like Grace herself! Grace was the beloved wife of Sam; loving mother to Paula and Gail, and their husbands Steven Zuckerman and Cris Smith; cherished grandmother to Ariel and Eric Zuckerman, Jared Prudoff-Smith, and Sara and Mike Tranum; loving great-grandmother to Samuel, Jacob and Aiden; cherished sister to Gloria and Miles Kitzler. Grace gifted us with her warmth and nurturance, her mischievous play, and her sharp wit. Life with her always presented delightful surprises. We will miss her presence dearly. A memorial will be held when it is safe to travel and to gather together.

Grace was the first living artist I ever met. Because I was Paula's friend, Grace opened her home and heart to me. I will miss her raunchy humor, her resonant voice, her sense of delight, her love of family and friends, the house filled with whimsy, magic, wonder, and her stunning paintings and sculptures. Grace will always be a role model for me of a strong woman who knew who she was and what she wanted to pursue. I honor her spirit and look forward to sharing memories, and collective sorrow at her loss when the time is right.

I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of Grace. Grace was an incredible woman and I feel honored that I knew her and was a small part of her incredible life. I will miss her greatly.
