GRACIELA MENDOZA

Ms. Graciela "Grace" Mendoza of Falls Church, VA passed away peacefully on August 16, 2022. Her parents were Dr. Hermiloand Maria J. (Perez) Mendoza. She was born on December 23, 1924 in El Paso, TX where she grew up. She graduated from El Paso High School in 1943 and immediately went to work at the local Office of Censorship at the height of WWII. After the war, she worked at Fort Bliss and then the Southern Pacific Railroad. She relocated to the Washington, DC area and worked at the Department of Agriculture. She changed her career plans and went to work in banking first as a budget and fiscal officer and subsequently as a trust officer. She was 97. She is survived by a sister, Mrs. Carmen Haddox of El Paso, and a brother, Mr. Francisco (Frank) Mendoza of Falls Church and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Hermilo Mendoza, Jr., and Joseph Mendoza, a sister, Mrs. Christina Bell, and a half sister, Mrs. Arturo (Nena) Marquez. Interment will be in National Memorial Park of Falls Church after a mass for Christian burial in El Paso. She will forever be remembered as a kind, calm, compassionate, understanding, and loving person She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.

We are so sad in El Paso that we lost our amazing Aunt Grace. She was so aptly named-graceful, kind, and lovely! Our hearts are broken!
