SMITH GREGORY E. SMITH On Sunday, September 20, 2009 of Silver Spring, MD. Beloved husband of Lanaya Smith; devoted father of Madison Smith, pending arrival of baby Smith, Brittani Holley and Khiry Clark; son of Robert and Shirley Smith; son-in-law of Woodrow and Beverly Williams; brother of Marlon and Lance Smith, Robert Hill and the late Sean Smith; beloved grandson of George and Mabel Austin. Family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, September 28, from 9 a.m. until funeral 11 a.m. at Reid Temple AME Church, 11400 Glenn Dale Blvd., Glenn Dale, MD. Interment Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions for Madison B. Smith and Baby Smith may be made to the Madison B. Smith Education Fund, Acct #446018022977 Bank of America, 2601 University Blvd. West, Wheaton, MD 20902. Contributions for Khiry Clark and Brittani Holley may be made to The Shirley Smith Education Fund , c/o Chevy Chase Bank, 1327 Lamberton Dr., Silver Spring, MD 20902. Arrangements by MCGUIRE.

Greg was a very special person. He helped me so many times when he supported the TWIC program at TSA. He was my right hand man! His smile and personality helped keep everyone's spirits up through out the day. Since I departed TSA, I have thought of him often. He will be missed. You all are in my prayers.

To the Family,
It seen like Greg was just on my front porch talking to me about the days at Kennedy & the football team. I just told him how good it was seeing him, and now he is gone. It hurt just to write this in a past tense. Greg seem to have maintained that same quiet low key spirit, and had just the best smile. To the parents, you must be really proud to know that Greg was a beautiful person inside and out. It was a true honor to know Greg and knowing him enriched my son life as well as others. My son has friends but Greg was just one of good friend to know. My heart aches as a parent/mother that his life was cut so short. I will keep his wife, parents and little ones lifed. Take comfort in knowing that he is now looking down watching over each of you.
